League starts around April 15th and games are on Wednesdays @ 8:40pm and Saturdays @ 10am, 11:20am and 12:40pm. Cost will be around $100 per player depending on number of players and team will play 10 games.

The game started with a lot of emotion from both squads , as the playoffs are a win or go home scenario. The Bulldogs would control much of the action in the 1^st Period and outshoot the Rams 11 – 7. But neither squad would be able to light the lamp as both goaltenders were on their game.

In the 2^nd Period,  Grandville would capitalize on their strong first period. It would be the senior combination lighting the lamp as Sean Conley (Giffel, Fex) would put the Bulldogs on the board 1 – 0 at the 14:04 mark of Pd. 2. But thirty seconds later Holt would get the quick equalizer by Jason Daman (Payne, Bowman) to tie the game up 1 – 1. Grandville would not be fazed by the Rams quick score, as the senior line would again light the lamp on a powerplay goal by Sean Conley (Giffel, Fex) to put the Bulldogs up 2 -1. Then two minutes later it would be Grandville’s Corey Giffel  lighting the lamp on a shorthanded opportunity to put the DAWG’S up 3 -1 to end the 2^nd Period.

The 3^rd period would see Grandville keep the pressure on the Holt goaltender with multiple scoring opportunities. But it would be the Rams with their goaltender pulled scoring a goal with 45 seconds remaining in the game to make the game 3 – 2. With Bulldogs goaltender Sean Schmieser continuing his gallant effort in waning seconds, it would be Corey Giffel snaring a loose puck and throwing it the length of ice into an empty net to ignite the Grandville faithful and secure a 4 – 2. Regional Championship. The Bulldogs would make school history as no other Grandville Varsity Hockey Squad had secured back to back Regional Championships.

Next game is District Championship vs East Kentwood, with winner going to Division 1 Final Four. Game will be Wednesday (3/7) @ Griff’s Ice House (Belknap) 7:15pm. ***Bulldogs are asking all former players to attend game and form tunnel for current players to enter ice. If former players are able to attend, please look for Chuck Shultz or Tim Buck prior to game for instructions.
